"When Judges all have similar life and professional experiences, diversity and balance can never be achieved. Seven of our current ten judges are former prosecutors, the other three were civil lawyers. When elected I will be the first criminal defense attorney/public defender to ever become a Superior Court Judge in the history of Santa Cruz County."

Dear Friends and Supporters:

As most of you know the election results are now final. After four torturous weeks, the final 11,000 votes were counted and we lost by 3,898 votes out of the 45,438 votes cast. Although I am deeply disappointed in the outcome, I am very proud of our effort. We tried our best and I am forever grateful for all your work, help and support. I am convinced it just wasn't meant to be.

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank each and everyone of you for your believe and faith in me. I am sorry if I let you down but even in defeat I am so blessed. I have the greatest wife, children and family. I also have the greatest friends. All this means the world to me. I am now able to get back to what I do best, using my legal talents and skills to make a difference in the lives of my clients.

Now the great news, Rita and I are grandparents for the first time. On June 27, 2010 our daughter Alison gave birth to a 7 lb. 6 oz. baby boy named Kellen James. He is absolutely incredible and a wonderful addition to our family.

Thank you and best wishes to all of you,

Steve Wright
